About

Hi, I'm Cherie' Hammer

I know firsthand heartbreak from emotional betrayal. From my own healing process, my therapeutic focus is to work with wounded partners or spouses who have experienced emotional or sexual betrayal. You may feel like the wind has been knocked out of you by your partners betrayal and have difficulty taking a deep breath. My desire is to walk with those whose hearts have been broken and help put the pieces back together by restoring a sense of hope. As a therapist, I provide a safe and trusting environment where clients are met with compassion, understanding, and acceptance. I also facilitate a Partners Group to validate and empower partners in their trauma from emotional or sexual betrayal with other women in an open, honest, and transparent environment.

My passion as a Christian Counselor is to help individuals affected by trauma. You may have suffered the ripple effect of someone else’s bad choices, leaving you devastated, immobile and wrought with anxiety, depression, and negative physiological impacts and now feel as if your life is out of control. I can help you feel like life is manageable on a daily basis. If life feels unbalanced, I also utilize EMDR techniques to help you work through distressing life events, past or present traumas, grief, depression, and anxiety.

Education and Credentials

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies, where I worked with families and their children for over ten years. Following that, I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling at Colorado Christian University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.0013799) with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) in the state of Colorado.

In addition to my credentials, I received training as an EMDR therapist with EMDRIA and the EMDR Institute . I have also completed training through the APSATS organization and am a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS), and I am also a trained Prepare and Enrich facilitator and Biblical Counselor through ACBC .

Additional Experience

I travel with New Life Ministries throughout the year facilitating process groups for emotional & sexual betrayal, trauma, and general healing. In addition, For many years I was a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I have helped many clients in reaching their fitness goals for weight loss, cardiovascular and physical strength as well as breaking through emotional barriers that have kept them captive in their lifestyle.
